About the Journal

Dirasat Islamiah: Jurnal Kajian Keislaman (Journal of Islamic Studies), ISSN 2721-5563, is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Islam Makassar (FAI UIM), in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Islamic Higher Education Lecturers (ADPETIKISINDO). Published biannually in April and October since 2020, the journal serves as a scholarly platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to disseminate critical and contextual studies that contribute to the advancement of Islamic scholarship in contemporary society.

Peer Review Process

Dirasat Islamiah: Jurnal Kajian Keislaman implements a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, academic integrity, and scholarly contribution of all submitted manuscripts. In this process, the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review procedure to maintain objectivity and fairness in academic evaluation.

Each manuscript submitted to the journal is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who possess expertise relevant to the manuscript’s subject area. The review process focuses on originality, theoretical contribution, methodological rigor, relevance to Islamic studies, clarity of argumentation, and adherence to academic and ethical standards.

Editorial Review Workflow

1. Initial Editorial Screening
   The editorial team examines the manuscript’s suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, writing quality, formatting, and compliance with submission guidelines.
2. Similarity and Plagiarism Check
   All manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using similarity detection software to ensure originality and compliance with publication ethics.
3. Reviewer Assignment
   Manuscripts that pass the initial evaluation are assigned to at least two reviewers through a double-blind review process.
4. Peer Review Evaluation
   Reviewers assess the manuscript’s academic contribution, originality, methodological soundness, theoretical relevance, references, and overall scholarly quality.
5. Revision by Authors
   Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers’ and editors’ comments before further consideration.
6. Final Editorial Decision
   The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision based on reviewers’ recommendations, revision quality, and editorial considerations.

Duties of Editors

• Evaluate manuscripts objectively based on academic merit, originality, relevance, and scholarly contribution.
• Ensure a fair, confidential, and unbiased peer review process.
• Maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
• Avoid conflicts of interest in editorial decision-making.
• Take appropriate action regarding ethical concerns, complaints, or allegations of misconduct.
• Make publication decisions based on reviewers’ recommendations and compliance with ethical standards.

Duties of Reviewers

• Conduct reviews objectively, professionally, and constructively.
• Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts under review.
• Provide clear, evidence-based, and timely feedback to authors and editors.
• Identify relevant published works that have not been properly cited.
• Inform editors of any substantial similarity, overlap, or ethical concern related to the manuscript.
• Declare any conflicts of interest that may influence the review process.

Duties of Authors

• Submit original and unpublished manuscripts that are not under consideration elsewhere.
• Present accurate research findings and scholarly arguments responsibly.
• Properly acknowledge all sources through appropriate citation and referencing practices.
• Ensure that all listed authors have significantly contributed to the manuscript.
• Participate actively in the review and revision process.
• Disclose funding sources and any potential conflicts of interest.
• Avoid plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, and other unethical practices.

Conflict of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the publication process. All conflicts of interest must be declared transparently to maintain scholarly integrity and editorial independence.

Research Misconduct

The journal does not tolerate any form of publication misconduct, including plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, duplicate publication, or improper authorship attribution. Any allegation of misconduct will be investigated seriously following COPE guidelines. Manuscripts found to violate ethical standards may be rejected, corrected, retracted, or removed from publication.

Manuscripts submitted to Dirasat Islamiah: Jurnal Kajian Keislaman must be original scholarly works that have not been published or simultaneously submitted to other journals. Author Fees

Dirasat Islamiah: Jurnal Kajian Keislaman does not charge any fees for article submission, initial processing, or peer-review procedures. Authors are not required to pay during the submission and evaluation stages of the manuscript.

If the manuscript is accepted for publication, authors will be required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) to support editorial management, peer-review administration, copyediting, DOI registration, layout editing, website maintenance, and online publication services.

The journal may consider partial or full fee waivers for authors under specific academic or institutional circumstances, subject to editorial consideration.

Plagiarism and Generative AI Policy

Dirasat Islamiah: Jurnal Kajian Keislaman is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ethical scholarly publishing. All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software to prevent plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, and other forms of academic misconduct.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original works that have not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to other journals. Proper acknowledgment of sources through appropriate citation and referencing practices is mandatory.

Similarity Screening

All manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening using Turnitin similarity detection software. Manuscripts with a high level of similarity may be returned to authors for revision or rejected depending on the extent and nature of the overlap.

Authors must disclose the use of AI tools whenever AI-generated content substantially contributes to manuscript preparation. Disclosure may be included in the acknowledgment section or a separate statement within the manuscript.

Violations of this policy may result in manuscript rejection, retraction of published articles, or prohibition from future submissions.

Retraction and Correction (R&C) Policy

The journal is committed to preserving the integrity and reliability of the scholarly record. Corrections, retractions, removals, or replacements may be issued when necessary in accordance with ethical publishing standards and COPE recommendations.

Article Retraction

• Evidence of plagiarism, duplicate publication, or serious ethical misconduct.
• Fabricated, falsified, or unreliable research findings.
• Major errors significantly affecting the validity of the article.
• Unethical research or authorship disputes.

Article Correction

• Minor factual inaccuracies that do not invalidate the article.
• Errors in author information, affiliations, or references.
• Editorial or publishing mistakes requiring clarification.

Retracted articles will remain accessible online with a clear retraction notice to preserve the transparency of the scholarly record.

Archiving Policy

Dirasat Islamiah: Jurnal Kajian Keislaman utilizes digital preservation and archiving systems to ensure the long-term accessibility and preservation of published scholarly content.

The journal supports permanent digital preservation through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and institutional journal management systems to guarantee continued accessibility of articles in the event of website disruption or data loss.
